Mothering Sunday is the fourth Sunday in Lent, three weeks before Easter Sunday, so its date moves every year. It began as the day for visiting your mother church and became the day for visiting your mother, and it is one of the busiest weekends of a florist's year.
Spring bunches in her favourite colours, tulips and ranunculus in a jar for the kitchen, or a basket of bulbs that goes on flowering for weeks. The American Mother's Day is in May; Mothering Sunday is the UK's own.
