The details
A slim dinner candle in dark grey, 29 cm tall and 2.2 cm across, to stand in a candlestick beside a bunch.
A dinner candle in dark grey, 29 cm tall and 2.2 cm across, the size that fits a standard candlestick. It is one of nine colours we keep; the others are listed separately. On a table a pair of these beside a low bunch does the work of a centrepiece, and dark grey is a charcoal that looks right against white flowers and zinc.

Goes horribly well with
Chosen to keep bad company with the flowers: a candle for the window, something amber for the table, a watcher for the mantelpiece.
Scent to go with it
Spice Night Scented CandleBlack pepper and patchouli, warm and bold: the smell of a house that has been carving pumpkins all afternoon. Light it at dusk and leave the door on the latch.
Something to stand it in
Macon Rustic Pillar Candle, Dark Red — 20 cmA tall pillar the colour of a very old wine, for the window a passer-by should not look at twice.
And one more thing
Cast Iron Mr Owl — 20 cmAn owl in cast iron, who has seen everything and says nothing. He keeps watch on the mantelpiece long after the pumpkin has gone soft.
Candlelight beside it
Glass Candlestick Tilda, Amber — 16 cmAmber glass and a dinner candle: the light of a séance, minus the séance.
