A pumpkin carved at the bench and planted with the darkest stems of the season (burgundy dahlias, black scabious, orange roses, blackberries still on the branch), with a candle inside for the evening. It is made the morning it goes out, and gone by the first of November.

For three weeks a year the studio goes over to the dark side. The pumpkins are carved, the dahlias are the colour of old claret, and the candles are lit at four.
Something wicked this way blooms
The Jack-O-Flowers is the whole season in one pumpkin: carved by hand, lined, and planted with the darkest stems we can find that week (dahlias, scabious, roses and hedgerow berries), with a candle set inside for after dark. It is made the morning it goes out, and it is not for sale after Halloween night.
Dress the house for the night
A candle the colour of old wine for the window, amber glass for the table, an owl in cast iron for the mantelpiece and a lantern for the step. Everything below was chosen to keep bad company with the flowers; add it beside them and it arrives in the same box.
Delivered before the witching hour
Order before the cut-off and the van brings it the same day across Sevenoaks and the villages; letterbox and posted orders travel anywhere in the UK. The sympathy flowers keep well out of all this: that page stays exactly as it always is.
Goes horribly well with
Chosen to keep bad company with the flowers: a candle for the window, something amber for the table, a watcher for the mantelpiece.
