Garden Rose

“love and deep affection”

No flower carries more history than the rose: sacred to Venus in antiquity, it became the emblem of love itself in the Victorian language of flowers, and each colour carries its own meaning. Garden roses are the full, ruffled, often scented varieties bred to recall old English shrub roses, and they bring a softness that standard roses rarely match. We reach for them whenever a bouquet needs romance at its heart.

In season, and in the studio

Garden Rose is in season all year round, so it is in the studio this month. In the studio's bunches it is a focal flower: the one a bunch is built around, with the others chosen to frame it. The studio buys it in peach, cream, dusky pink and deep red, and at the bench each colour is read for its own meaning.
